Better Angels
Logline: A by-the-book surveillance squad fights to solve a cop-robbery case under a ticking clock, while battling sabotage from inside their own unit and pressure from a Major with ghosts in the fight.
Short Description: In Better Angels, the Criminal Conspiracy Section (CCS) takes down a fellow officer in a clean sting — only to be blindsided when their Major installs two disruptive detectives to undermine the team. When a staged robbery tied to gambling debt escalates into murder, CCS races to close the case as evidence mounts, time runs out, and internal sabotage threatens to let a killer walk. This is a taut, character-driven police procedural that explores loyalty, politics, and the cost of doing the job right.
Writer’s Note: Better Angels is drawn from our combined decades in South Florida law enforcement. We set out to capture the unique cadence of surveillance work — the waiting, the banter, the sudden bursts of chaos — and to show the human weight carried by detectives fighting to hold the line even as their own chain of command erodes beneath them. This is our love letter and our reckoning with the job: sharp, procedural, and unflinching.
