Unknown Black Male

Logline: A teenage hitman flees Miami after a gang shooting, reinvents himself as a soldier and state cop, and must face the violent past that threatens to expose him and destroy the life he built.

Short Description: UBM (Unknown Black Male) follows LAW, a boy forged by Overtown’s gang wars, who kills to survive and disappears on a Greyhound bus to rural South Carolina. There, under the stern but redemptive guidance of Deacon Jones, he rebuilds himself — graduating, marrying his first love, and joining the Army as a Military Policeman. After a combat tour in Iraq, LAW returns to Florida as an FDLE agent, rising through the ranks and starting a family. But when the streets he once ruled spill back into his life — claiming his uncle’s life and threatening to unearth old murders — LAW is forced to walk the line between cop and killer, justice and vengeance, redemption and ruin.

Writer’s Note: This story is our most personal and unflinching work — a saga about identity, loyalty, and the ghosts that follow you no matter how far you run. We wanted to write a crime drama that begins in the raw heat of Miami’s streets, moves through the dust and blood of Iraq, and lands in the procedural precision of Florida law enforcement — showing the complete arc of a man who is both predator and protector. UBM is equal parts survival story, procedural thriller, and meditation on whether redemption can ever fully erase the past.
